[rotating-posts]I really like the look of the rope halters but I don’t really have an excuse to buy one (lol) cuz I can’t hook the horse to cross ties with it on or anything so what is a rope halter really used for? Screening? lol I don’t know

demonstration on how to tie the sideknot in a rope halter
When I tie my horse when he’s wearing a rope halter, he pulls back. He pulls when I hold onto him in a rope halter. When he has a nylon halter, he doesn’t pull and has fantastic manners. Is the rope halter hurting him? Has anyone else had similar experiences?
Any ideas?I just got my first horse today and bought him awesome matching equipment. I got him a rope halter because he needs to learn his manners. The lead came with it and its just a simple rope. You know the shiny kind not the actual rope kind. It doesnt have the bull clip to attach it to the halter. How do you tie the not of the end of the lead to the halter?

I am a pleasure rider with a 6 year ancient paint gelding. He rides perfectly with a bit but I occasionally like to ride him with just a rope halter (tying the lead rope around his neck for reigns) when I ride bareback. He isn’t as “obedient” with the halter but I prefer it to the “strain” of the bit. So I am looking into buying a bosal hackamore that I can use instead of the rope halter, and even for trail rides. So I really have like no thought what I’m getting for myself into so I know you can get a bosal or just a hackamore…. what’s the difference? Also I am looking at the headstall with the pigskin nose piece, but will it rub his nose? I’m assuming that is why the fleece is an option. But any information I am grateful for! HELP!
I’m generally looking for something that gives me more control than the rope halter without a bit. And is used with reins like a bridle.
